While many consider January to be a quiet month, it’s been anything but that in Dubai, particularly for the emirate’s Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

It’s the time of year when it’s optimum weather in Dubai, and Sheikh Hamdan has definitely been enjoying every bit of it, as well as ensuring the emirate starts the new year on a high note.

With that, we look back on some of the Crown Prince of Dubai’s highlights from January.

A message of positivity and prosperity

To mark the start of the year, Sheikh Hamdan, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, shared a message with Dubai Government employees praising them for their hard work and determination over 2021 and his hopes for a prosperous 2022.

“The success that the UAE and Dubai have witnessed was only possible because of your devotion, dedication and relentless determination,” he said in his letter. “You have certainly lived up to the lessons echoed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who taught us to only aim for first place and nothing less.”

For his first foodie outing of 2022, Sheikh Hamdan visited a new concept, which opened late last year, by acclaimed chef Akmal Anuar and Ahmass Fakahany, CEO and Founder of Atelier House Hospitality.

Located in a villa on Jumeirah Beach Road, 11 Woodfire opened in November 2021. Sheikh Hamdan, who is affectionately known as Fazza, visited the venue during the first weekend of January and no doubt was able to indulge in some of the newly opened restaurant’s signature dishes. These include the Fremantle octopus served with beans and veal pancetta and the garden harvest which is amber roasted and served with tomato garum – a delicious umami flavour that hails from ancient Rome.

Welcoming a new member of the family

Sheikh Hamdan’s younger brother, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, welcomed a new addition to the family on January 11.

Sheikh Maktoum welcomed a baby girl named Latifa with his wife Sheikha Maryam bint Butti Al Maktoum. Relishing in the joyous news, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, led the congratulatory messages to his brother on social media.

Praising the leadership of the UAE

In mid-January, His Highness made an impassioned reciting of a poem hailing and praising Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince.

Sheikh Hamdan took to his Instagram story to share a photo of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of the UAE’s capital and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

In the footage, Sheikh Hamdan focuses on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s face whilst narrating a poem hailing the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE’s Armed Forces for his leadership. In the poem, Dubai’s Crown Prince refers to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed as the “lion of the UAE”.

After welcoming twins Sheikh Rashid and Sheikha Sheikha in 2021, Sheikh Hamdan is continuing to relish his role of being a doting father.

The dad of two took eight-month-old twins to visit the giraffes in Duabi, sharing some sweet snaps on Instagram. In the first photo, Sheikh Hamdan is holding baby Sheikha and in the second photo, he’s holding baby Rashid.

Both of the little ones were wearing adorable animal-themed outfits for the occasion – Sheikha wore a leopard and tiger one-piece and Rashid wore a dinosaur one-piece.

In late January, Sheikh Hamdan shared a series of photos to his Instagram story of his meeting with Cristiano Ronaldo along with his father, Sheikh Mohammed.

In the snaps, the Dubai Ruler and the Dubai Crown Prince were seen meeting with Ronaldo and his son Cristiano Jr. There was also a photo of Fazza and Ronaldo, who are known to be firm friends, appearing to joke around together.

On the same day, the Crown Prince of Dubai continued to show Ronaldo the best of what his city has to offer. The royal and the superstar sportsman were seen at Aura Skypool, the world’s first and highest 360-degree infinity pool located on the 50th floor of Nakheel’s Palm Tower.

This elegant oasis perched on a height will allow guests to witness panoramic views of Dubai’s skyline, including popular destinations such as Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa and Ain Dubai.

Sharing a video of the pair looking at the sweeping views of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan welcomed Ronaldo “home”.

“Good to see you too, welcome to your Home,” Sheikh Hamdan captioned the post.

It’s certainly been a jam-packed start of the year for Fazza and we’re sure February will be just as busy for the Crown Prince of Dubai…
