After a difficult year with a lengthy court battle aiming to end her 13-year conservatorship, Britney Spears has announced some joyous news on Instagram.
The singer revealed that she is now engaged to her boyfriend of five years, Iran-born Sam Asghari.
Showing off her engagement ring to her 34 million followers, Britney shared a video of herself with her fiancé showing how excited she was after saying “yes”.

Sharing a statement on behalf of the newly engaged couple, Sam’s manager, Brandon Cohen, confirmed the news of the engagement to People.
“The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them,” he said.
Earlier this year, speaking on her conservatorship for the first time in a statement given in court, Britney shared her desire to marry Sam and have children with him, but her situation would not allow it.
“This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life,” she said.
Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, was granted control of the pop star’s personal and business affairs in 2008 following her battle with some severe mental health issues. The conservatorship was ordered by a court in 2008.
However, it seems the tides are finally turning for the pop star with the happy news of her engagement.
Britney and Sam first met in 2016 on the set of a music video.
Sam is currently 27 and works as a personal trainer and actor. He was born in Tehran, Iran, but relocated to Los Angeles, California with his father when he was 12-years-old.

Earlier this year, amidst the height of her court battles, Sam spoke about looking forward to a bright “future” with Britney.
“I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves,” he told People in June. “I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together.”
