Head to a luxe salon for less
This recent opening is a favourite of ours, and for the month of May, they’re offering 50 per cent off for new clients. Check the date — this is your last chance. Prices start from Dhs370 for a cut and blow dry, and Dhs470 for a creative colour. If you’re after wearable colour and perfectly executed cuts, here’s your spot. Sorbie’s UK salons are famed for their high standards, and they’ve brought those same exacting standards to Dubai. Plus, the salon is gorgeous.

Have a stay-cay at sea
After something a little different? We’d say a night on the world’s first floating hotel qualifies. During the QE2’s soft-opening stage, UAE residents can get 15 per cent off the best available rate online, with breakfast included. There are upgrade offers and food discounts available, too. Rates start from Dhs276.
QE2, Mina Rashid, valid until 30 September, rates start from Dhs276. Tel: (04) 526 8888. qe2.com.
Friday June 1
Try an elegant, low-key brunch
If you’re after a more sophisticated brunch option, we’ve got to recommend Nineteen in the club house at Address Montgomerie. Set in a light, airy dining room, this Mediterranean brunch is a mix of buffet salads and seafood and made-to-order pastas and risottos. The staff are accommodating, the vibe is relaxed, and the desert selection needs to be seen to be believed. This is the ideal option for when you want a slightly more elevated experience for your Friday afternoon.
Friday fiesta brunch at Nineteen, Address Montgomerie, Emirates Hills, Dubai. 12.30-3.30pm Fridays, packages from Dhs290 per person. Tel: (04) 390 5600. addresshotels.com.
Enjoy a fresh three-course menu
Chef Gary Rhodes’ well-loved Rhodes W1 restaurant is closing temporarily over the summer, but they’ve decided to out in style. For the month of June, Rhodes himself has designed four different three-course set menus, which will be available on a rotating basis for Dhs195 per person. That’s a pretty great deal, we think. On the menu you’ll find buttered salmon, ratatouille, roast chicken and peppered beef fillet — plus we hear the deserts are outrageous.
Table D’Hôte Menu at Rhodes W1, Grovesnor House, Dubai Marina. After 7pm throughout June. Dhs195 per person. Tel: (04) 317 6000. rw1-dubai.com.
Saturday June 2
Experience a sky-high iftar
Now this looks like an experience to remember. On the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa, At.mosphere is a pretty special spot, and they’re hosting iftar throughout Ramadan. Expect a mix of international favourites, and of course, truly outstanding views. It’s a four-course menu, and a la carte is also available.
Iftar at At.mosphere, Burj Khalifa, Downtown Dubai. Dhs575 per person. Tel: (04) 888 3828. atmosphereburjkhalifa.com.
Check out a silent auction for a good cause
This month, there’s a silent auction running at The Dubai Mall to support Emirates Autism Society. UK mixed-media artist Robi Walters has created a stunning, vibrant work called ‘Brighter Days,’ which is currently on display in the mall. Bidding starts from Dhs25,000 and will go up in Dhs1,000 increments until bidding stops with the end of Ramadan. The one-of-a-kind piece is made of recycled materials and you can check it out in Fashion Avenue.
On display until Eid Al Fitr at The Dubai Mall, Downtown Dubai. Tel: (800) DUBAI MALL. thedubaimall.com.
