Last week it was announced Paris Haute Couture Week was going fully digital and the fabulous fashion event kicked off in style on Monday, January 25.

However, some of our favourite designers from the region have opted out of the event.

Lebanese couturiers Elie Saab and Georges Hobeika announced last week they wouldn’t be presenting their latest collection and now fellow couturier Zuhair Murad has followed suit.

The designer was due to present his collection tomorrow, January 27, but has now announced he would be opting out of the fashion event due to the global pandemic and the “drastic restrictions taken worldwide”.

“The safety of our community and especially the well-being of our employees, who have participated in spreading beauty through various collections, remains our top priority,” he added in a statement.

“Therefore, Zuhair Murad has taken the decision to postpone the January 27th showcase of its Spring 2021 Couture collection.”

On a final note, the Lebanese designer said that he hopes to showcase his collections in a “near and peaceful future”.

Despite these key Lebanese couturiers opting out of the Haute Couture Week, there’s still many scheduled to showcase their collections which you can find out more about here.
