If you’re into organic, paleo, vegan and dairy-free food, then listen up.

“We are a young country, proud of its youth.”

Those were the words of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that inspired the city’s newest restaurant offering.

Motivated by the royal, HE Shamma Bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui – the UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs – felt compelled to dream up a new healthy-eating concept.

The result is Flow, a paleo, vegan, dairy- and gluten-free-friendly restaurant entirely staffed by employees under 30.

The eatery will open on March 19 in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, and has been set up in collaboration with the Emirates Youth Council.

“Flow has been created by youth to be a destination to connect and lead the movement towards a healthy lifestyle,” said HE Al Mazrui.

“The correct diet ensures a healthy mind and when people are in this state – the state of Flow as we call it – they reach their optimum potential. Flow is where the UAE’s next generation of innovative leaders will connect, create and converse over nutritious food and specialty coffee in a space that nurtures creativity.”

The restaurant hopes to promote healthy eating among both Emiratis and expats, and will serve fresh, and (where possible) organic and locally-sourced food.

While there isn’t yet a menu to share with you, Flow says it’ll be offering healthy snacks, salads and small plates packed with fruit, veg and protein, along with plenty of juices.

There’ll also be coffee from Dubai company The Espresso Lab, plus workspaces, wi-fi, and some intriguing-sounding ‘milk taps’.

Yes, you’ll be able to top up your beverage with a choice of almond, rice, soya, cow’s and coconut milk, depending on your preference (you can also dispense some straight into your granola).

So if you live or work in Downtown, this might shake up your breakfast or lunch routine…
