“Zayed sought to spread good across the world and make the Emirates a beacon of hope.”

Well, this is somewhat breathtaking.

The Founder’s Memorial to HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Founding President, has opened in Abu Dhabi. We have to say, it’s beautiful.

Opened on Monday night, the memorial was timed to tie in with the Year of Zayed, marking 100 years since Sheikh Zayed’s birth.

At the centre of the memorial, you’ll find an incredible portrait of Sheikh Zayed, made up of hundreds of points of light. Called ‘The Constellation,’ it’s the work of artist Ralph Helmick.

Amazing. The inauguration was attended by many UAE rulers, including HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Reflecting on Sheikh Zayed’s legacy, Sheikh Mohammed said the Founding President’s memory would remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.

“When we mention giving, we have to mention Zayed. His name will forever be associated with generosity and humane leadership in the annals of history,” he said.

“Zayed sought to spread good across the world and make the Emirates a beacon of hope.”

HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said that for Sheikh Zayed, his people’s happiness was the only goal.

“He instilled the values of hard work, giving and dedication in his people, inspiring them to take the country to new heights,” he said.

“He founded a state, built a nation, and personally shaped a civilisation.”

Sheikh Mohamed shared this short video of the inauguration on Instagram.

We can’t wait to see it for ourselves.
