Yesterday, Saudi Arabia issued a series of royal decrees, one of which included naming Riyadh’s current envoy to Washington, Prince Khalid bin Salman, as deputy minister of defense with the ranking of minister. Therefore, Princess Reema is set to replace him as the 11th Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the United States.

She took to Twitter after her appointment to express her gratitude, writing “I extend the most sincere thanks and gratitude to His Majesty the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince – may God preserve them – for this precious and precious trust in appointing an ambassador to the United States of America. I will, God willing, serve my country, its leaders and all its people. I will spare no effort to do so.”

The Princess is familiar with the culture in the States, as she spent several years there growing up, as her father Prince Bandar was an ambassador from 1983 to 2005. She also continued her education there, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Museum studies from George Washington University. She returned to Saudi in 2005 and has been involved in several initiatives both in the private and public sectors ever since.

She currently serves as President of the Mass Participation Federation and Deputy of Development and Planning for the Saudi sports authority. She also co-founded Yibreen, a women’s day gym and spa, and was the Chief Executive Officer of Alfa International and Harvey Nichols in Riyadh.

Over the years, the Princess gained attention for her efforts as a leader in business innovation, and an advocate for women rights in the workplace. She was featured on Forbes list of the 200 Most Powerful Arab Women for 2014.
