With the Dubai International Film Festival upon us, the red carpet will be lined with the film industry’s most talented and gorgeous stars. While were sure many of them will be boasting their own natural good looks, we’ll bet our bottom dollar some will have had a little help getting their all-star glow. Here, one top doctor reveals the secret treatments most popular with our favourite celebrities.

“The aim in modern aesthetics is to look well-rested, healthier and younger without any major changes and to minimise the time the treatment takes and the time it takes to recover,” says Dr Galyna an aesthetic medical doctor with an international client (royals and A-list celebs) base specialising in a wide range of non-invasive beauty treatments. “That means as little downtime as possible. That is why the non-invasive procedures work so well and have become much more popular.

“Stars like Jennifer Lopez, Cindy Crawford and Gwyneth Paltrow want to be at the top of their game in their forties. Ageing is not just a vanity issue, it’s important for their career that’s why many start having treatments in their thirties as a preventative measure.”

Here we get Dr Galyna to divulge the most popular non-invasive surgeries favoured by the stars:

Cool Sculpting

Kim Kardashian is rumoured to have cool sculpting to freeze the fat cells on her stomach

How it works: It contours the body and gets rid of stubborn fat which refuses to budge regardless of diet or exercise. A vacuum is attached to the skin where you want to remove the fat. This freezes the fat cells which are flushed out of your system within two to three months. It has been approved by the US Food and Drugs Administration. The procedure works on everything from stomachs and thighs to bingo wings (female celebrities’ biggest nightmare on the red carpet when wearing sleeveless or strappy dresses).

Benefits: The downtime is minimal. It takes about an hour. The skin might feel a little pinched when the vacuum is first attached but it goes away after a few minutes. Most clients use the time to read a magazine and relax. In one case a woman held a conference call throughout the whole treatment time! Once the procedure has been completed you can get on with your life, unlike liposuction where you can expect to be out of action for six to eight weeks. You usually only need one treatment.

Celebrities are coy about the work they have had done but Cool Sculpting is good post baby treatment. Kim Kardashian is reported to have had it done to flatten her stomach.

Ultherapy

Jennifer Aniston is said to be a fan of Ultherapy

How it works: It uses ultrasound to restore texture and tone to the skin. It works by focusing the energy deep into the layers without disturbing the skin’s surface. The ultrasound energy stimulates the growth of new collagen. This will strengthen and tone your skin from the inside. It is uplifting for the face as it lifts, tightens and tones loose skin. It works on the face, chin, neck, eyes and brow and the decolletage. Results will start to develop within two to three months.

Benefits: A full face treatment including neck and eyes can be done in around 90 minutes. There is no downtime and no-one need know – unless you want to tell them. It gives you a fresher, more youthful complexion. The growth of new collagen is a natural process, which has simply been stimulated by the ultrasound. You don’t look different; you look like a more relaxed version of you.

Among the celebrities who have openly admitted having Ultherapy is Jennifer Aniston. Other fans of hi-tech facials include the Kardashian family.

HydraFacial

Natural beauty Beyonce is said to be a fan of the HydraFacial

How It Works: This treatment is a favourite with celebrities who have a special event coming up. It was showcased in a TV report in the USA with the Real Housewives singing its praises. The HydraFacial procedure does all you would want from a deep cleanse and more. It exfoliates and hydrates too and provides antioxidant protection. The treatment gently exfoliates the skin which is followed on with specialist equipment to push unique serums deeper into your skin, producing a plumped up effect.

Benefits: The HydraFacial soothes and moistures leaving you looking glowing. It improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It works on congested and enlarged pores, oily or acne-prone skin, redness and brown spots. It takes about an hour. There is no discomfort and no downtime. It is safe for most skin types.

Kate Winslet, Beyoncé and Eva Mendes are said to be fans.

Pelleve

Pelleve machine

Pelleve machine

How it works: It reduces the appearance of wrinkles using radio waves to deliver energy to the dermal tissue – the layer deep underneath the surface skin. It causes the collagen to contract and tighten. After the treatment the skin grows new collagen. Collagen growth doesn’t only help diminish wrinkles and fine lines,  it also results in smoother, firmer skin. The treatment works on the eyes, neck and lips.

Benefits: A celebrity may start their treatment a couple of weeks before a red carpet event, when they are most exposed to the flashlights and the TV cameras. Results after Pelleve treatment are instantly noticeable. Your skin quality and appearance is improved with a fresher and younger look. Treatment for the eyes can take as little as 15 minutes. For a full face expect around 45 minutes.

There are actresses who have used radio frequency treatments like Pelleve to help look their best, including a high profile model in her 50s for an infamous photo shoot…
