Nicki Minaj was in Dubai on Friday night to take to the stage at Dubai Outlet Mall as part of The Pinkprint Tour (Dubai was her last show of the world tour).

But fans were shocked when Nicki paused halfway through her hit single Feeling Myself, stormed over to what looks to be one of her security guards, taking his phone out of his hands and hurling it behind her, throwing the phone to the back of the stage.

Social media reacted to the Dubai event – some were outraged, others came out in support of Nicki’s actions:Nicki Minaj Dubai Nicki Minaj Dubai Nicki Minaj Dubai Nicki Minaj Dubai Nicki Minaj Dubai Nicki Minaj Dubai MEANWHILE…

For her suggestive hit Anaconda, Nicki mentioned to the Dubai crowd that she’d been told to “tone down the show”, being in the UAE and all, saying “I usually get really freaky on this one but I can’t get freaky on this stage.” So throughout the length of Anaconda, the large screens on either side of the stage were turned off as Nicki performed her routine so that the choreography wasn’t served up in billboard size.

She even managed to censor some of the language in her songs in the concert that was only an hour long – with no costume changes, and some songs cut short. At one point, a fan was given the microphone and got the chance to spit out a verse in Trey Songz’s Bottoms Up, and she managed to absolutely nail it.

In a meet and greet afterwards, the fan even said to Nicki, “Did you see how I slayed that though?” With Nicki responding with “Yes you did!”

Having sold over 50 million singles and five million albums worldwide, with more hits on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart than any female rapper in history – it’s no wonder Minaj is so popular.

It’s not her first time in the city, and the rapper seemed so shocked by the crowd’s energy that it probably won’t be her last.
