Produced in Istanbul, the brand offers a contemporary, and at times minimal, take on talisman charms and iconographic symbols, including shields, arrow tips, stars and evil eyes. Founded by Milka Karaağaçlı in 2009 with an aim to reflect Istanbul’s oriental identity, with the first collection Nazar reinterpreted the Turkish evil eye symbol. The next line was named Eter and inspired by the crescent moon. In line with a Turkish aesthetic, the pieces offer variety of textures, finishes and gems, but by keeping it slender and delicate gives it a modern edge.

Crafted by experts in the atelier, Kismet by Milka has developed it’s own shade of gold that sits between yellow and rose gold, which is then set with black or champagne diamonds, rubies and natural sapphires.

Designed to be mixed and matched, stacked and worn with absolutely anything, the pieces feel timeless. Karaağaçlı has also introduced customisation to give your purchase an even deeper meaning. Case and point, when her daughter Mayra was born, she created a ring with a letter ‘M’. Madonna’s stylist spotted it and ordered it for the singer, and that’s when the brand really obtained it’s global following.

Earlier this month, the Duchess of Sussex was seen wearing the Hasma ring and Dangle Circles bracelet to her meeting at Canada House. It was then revealed that the Hasma ring was in fact a gift from Prince Harry. He purchased it when they were still in the early days of their relationship, and he clearly made the right choice as Kismet means destiny or fate.

Kismet by Milka celebrated it’s 10th anniversary this month, and most recently unveiled a new collection called Innerland that features African symbols like arrows, claws, feathers.
