Actress, mother, and now, Olivia Wilde can add green goddess to her CV with the 31-year-old star dazzling as the new face of H&M’s Conscious Exclusive Collection, which finally hits UAE stores on April 16. As an ardent humanitarian, Olivia Wilde was the natural choice to represent H&M’s new Conscious Exclusive collection, which is made using sustainable materials and fabrics such as hemp, silk, organic linen and organic leather to create pieces of great individual style.
In the gorgeous ad campaign Olivia models the environmentally friendly collection, which will be available in 200 stores worldwide this Thursday. She said of the range: “I love the Conscious Exclusive collection at H&M, both for the look, and also for its ethics. This is how all fashion should be: great style that’s naturally more sustainable.”
This year’s Conscious Exclusive collection takes inspiration from around the world – in particular Africa, India and the Far East – with a focus on the versatility of the dress. An organic linen and silk sleeveless gown with a glamorous shape is printed with hand-drawn images of birds. A black cocktail dress is made from Tencel and recycled wool, with an African influence in its embellished rows of recycled sequins. Meanwhile, a sleeveless cocktail dress has a print inspired by Japanese ink, and is made from organic hemp, organic silk and organic cotton.
“I love the global influences in this Conscious Exclusive collection and the beauty of the hand-drawn prints made by one of our talented in-house designers,” said Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative Advisor H&M. “And Olivia Wilde is the perfect choice for this collection, sharing with H&M a commitment to a more sustainable future.”
Olivia Wilde is involved in many philanthropic activities. As well as appearing in Gucci’s famous charity Chime For Change, she’s a board member of Artists for Peace and Justice, which provides education and health services in Haiti. She was also commended by the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, a farmworkers’ union, for supporting the Fair Foods campaign. Her role with H&M offers a cool way to be both stylish and eco-friendly. Well, you can’t beat that, can you?
The H&M Conscious Exclusive will be available in around 200 H&M stores worldwide on 16 April 2015, as well as online. Here are our five favourite picks:
