The Roads and Transport Authority’s Public Transport Agency is putting on a variety of rides to help you ring in 2018, and the best news? They’re not going to hit your wallet quite as hard as many swanky parties.

On December 31, there’ll be water bus, ferry and abra services running as the clock strikes 12, with each offering waterfront views of Dubai’s festivities.

Dubai Ferry trips will start from 9pm on New Year’s Eve and continue through to 1.30am, while water bus and abra journeys will run from 10.30pm to 1.30am.

Ferry rides will start from Marina Mall station, Ghubaiba station, Dubai Festival City station and Sheikh Zayed Road station (Dubai Water Canal), and will cost adults Dhs300 for silver class or Dhs450 for gold class.

Kids between two and 10 years old get a 50 per cent discount, while those under two can ride for free.

“The RTA is stepping up efforts to offer a new marine transit experience availing riders a superb opportunity to live the thrilling moments of festivities at Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, the Atlantis and Dubai Water Canal, through sea cruises aboard marine transit modes,” said Mansour Rahma Al Falasi, director of marine transport at the Public Transport Agency.

“The experience is bound to leave fond memories for residents, visitors and tourists.”

Abra and water bus trips cost Dhs125 per person (or nothing for kids under two), with the former departing from Dubai Festival City, Jaddaf station and Ghubaiba station.
