You can actually party with Jennifer Lopez in Dubai this month…
Meet the tour guide who is showing a different side of Dubai
Thursday 16
Get right with Jennifer Lopez
We’re pretty sure JLo doesn’t need a whole lot of introduction. She’s a legend. If your Friday plans don’t line up with her (dry) Autism Rocks Arena gig, why not head along to super club Base and catch her performance there? It’s free, as per, but the venue’s usual door policy does apply.
Jennifer Lopez at Base Dubai, Dubai Design District. 10pm-3am. Free. Tel: (055) 313 4999. basedubai.com.
Have dinner courtesy of a celebrity chef
Nobu at Atlantis The Palm is already a big-name dining destination, and this Thursday, namesake chef Nobu Matsuhisa is in the house. He’ll be joined by Giorgio Locatelli, and between the two culinary heavyweights, a six-course tasting menu of Japanese and Italian flavours will come together. It’s going to be pretty special.
Nobu Dubai, Atlantis The Palm. 7-11pm. Dhs550 per person. Tel: (04) 426 1000. atlantisthepalm.com.
Friday 17
Enjoy a deluxe Cantonese brunch
When we said we were headed to Hakkasan for brunch, the general response was “Oh, I haven’t been there in ages.” We’d recommend heading back. Their Friday afternoon offering is indulgent but fresh, with some of the best Cantonese we’ve tried in Dubai. The beverages are a delight, too – try the mandarin spritz.
Brunch at Hakkasan, 12-4pm. Ground floor, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. Tel: (04) 384 84 84. hakkasan.com.
Check out some luxe timepieces
Dubai Watch Week is back for another year, full of spectacular designs that’ll really make you want to amp up your timepiece collection. The main exhibition this year focuses on classical craftsmanship and contemporary techniques, with makers from around the world showcasing their wares. From vintage numbers to modern glamour, there’s something for everyone to coo over.
The Gate, DIFC, Dubai, 10am to 8pm, November 17 to 20. dubaiwatchweek.com.
Saturday 18
Stretch it out
There’s every chance you haven’t heard of jivamukti yoga – we hadn’t either, until a few months ago – but we promise it’s worth a crack. Based on hatha and ashtanga, it’s an integrated style that will get you sweaty without ever being too intimidating. This Saturday is the perfect chance to try it out, too, as our go-to teacher Dina Ghandour is hosting a free class to celebrate the end of the Dubai Fitness Challenge. See you there.
Jivamukti yoga, 2pm. Dubai Festival City Helipad, Dubai Festival City. Free entry, bring your own mat. instagram.com/jivamuktiwithdina.
Head to France without leaving Dubai
How does a French market, along with music and food trucks, sound? Under the name of Apéritif à la Française Dubai, that’s exactly what’s going down at The Westin Mina Seyahi on Saturday. The event will take over the hotel’s gardens and amphitheatre. We can’t think of a nicer Saturday afternoon… or evening.
Apéritif à la Française Dubai, The Westin Mina Seyahi, Dubai Marina. Free entry, 12-10pm. Tel: (04) 399 4141. facebook.com/westindubai.
