The Beach JBR looks to be following in the Burj Khalifa’s footsteps.

It was revealed earlier this month that the world’s tallest tower would be shaking things up for the start of 2018.

The Burj Khalifa, which is renowned for its annual fireworks display when the clock strikes midnight on January 1, will this year be putting on a world-record-attempting light show.

This may be one of the coolest (and most purse-friendly) ways to see NYE

And now another NYE hotspot has revealed it won’t be holding a fireworks display at the end of 2017 either.

The Beach in JBR will be forgoing the sky-high entertainment, What’s On Dubai reports, as will new beachfront destination La Mer and Dubai Creek’s cultural hub, Al Seef.

Meraas will be holding a New Year’s Eve concert at City Walk, and there will be instead be regular fireworks at The Beach, Al Seef and La Mer over several weeks to celebrate the Dubai Shopping Festival.

On December 26, 28 and 29, there’ll be nightly displays at the three locations, as well as every weekend throughout January, to mark the month-long shopping extravaganza.

Meanwhile, the Burj Khalifa’s New Year festivities will pay homage to the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed, and mark the beginning of 2018 as the Year of ZayedThe National reports.

Of course, they’re wanting to keep things tightly wrapped until the night, but the information available suggests that we’ll see lasers projected onto Downtown’s towers.

For those who want to see fireworks on the night, there’ll be shows at Atlantis The Palm, Club Vista Mare on The Palm, the Burj Al Arab and Qasr Al Sultan, What’s On reports.
