Thank you Cardi B.
Annual Grammy awards tend to invite experimental fashion onto the red carpet, and no one made a statement quiet like singer Cardi B.
She stepped out in a vintage Thierry Mugler dress from the autumn/winter 1995-1996 couture collection and styled it exactly how the model Simonetta Gianfella appeared on the runway.
Inspired by the 1480’s painting The Birth of Venus by Botticelli, which depicts the goddess Venus rising from the sea on a scallop shell, the black velvet fishtail dress opens up into a pink satin shell, holding the pearls (in this case Cardi B) at the centre.
The statement look has propelled a number of stylists and editors to look back through the archives, and below we select the iconic looks we would like to see recreated on the red carpet.
