The singer-songwriter is making a speedy recovery, his team say.

Ed Sheeran is one of the biggest musicians in the world right now, but he’s only human. The poor guy fell off his bike when he was hit by a car in London in the middle of October, injuring both his arms and leaving him unable to play the guitar.

In his line of work, that’s just about essential, and it left a big question mark over his November 23 show at the Autism Rocks Arena near Dubai Outlet Mall.

6 things to do in the UAE this weekend

Fans have been waiting anxiously for updates – tickets sold out almost instantly – and now promoters 117 Live have confirmed that Sheeran’s show will be going ahead.

“We have now received a further update from Ed Sheeran’s team regarding his show at the Autism Rocks Arena on Thursday 23rd November. After a consultation with his doctor, his injuries are healing well and he has confirmed that the show will still be going ahead as planned,” CEO Thomas Ovesen said.

“We are glad Ed’s recovery is going speedily and the team here at 117 Live can’t wait to welcome him to Dubai for what will be an epic show.”

Sheeran himself posted a video to Facebook apologising and saying that many of the shows on the Asian leg of his tour would need to be rescheduled or cancelled.

2017 isn’t a bad year for music enthusiasts in the UAE. This very weekend there’s the Fiesta de los Muertos at the Autism Rocks Arena, featuring Carly Rae Jepsen and Gorillaz. The Grand Prix concert series in Abu Dhabi is a winner, too, with Kendrick Lamar and Calvin Harris among the headliners. Then, in December, Sir Elton John is playing for one night only.

Not to mention Party In The Park… We’re a little overwhelmed, honestly.
