Yes, it seems still to crocs are now officially a thing.

By amping up things up a notch (quite literally), Balenciaga’s latest croc stilettos are the new talk of the town with these elevated plastic clogs causing quite a reaction on social media.

Priced at $1,000 (Dhs3,673) as per a report by CNN, these modernized crocs aren’t available on the market yet.

The Paris-based fashion brand unveiled this innovative shoe in its spring 2022 collection, through a futuristic lens, as the world slowly adapts to a digitally-driven society.

At the beginning of the six-minute-long presentation for the Clones Spring 2022 collection, it read, “We see our world through a filter-perfected, polished, conformed, photoshopped. We no longer decipher.”

As the stiletto croc heel might not be the only fascinating piece of seen during the show, another pair of platform knee-high rain boots were spotted during the presentation, featuring the artist Eliza Douglas, who was virtually portrayed using CGI technology as she showcased 44 looks with a matrix inspired audience.

While this innovation might seem outwardly absurd as a whole, the concept has managed to gain a strong retraction from its audience after the show, as it has given the label a distinct brand identity in the current market, gaining all the media attention for its limited-edition product.

This is not the first time Balenciaga has collaborated with Crocs. The duo worked together back in 2017, with platform Crocs selling out even before their official release, making it the first of its kind in the market while causing quite a stir among its audience.

With so many unique collaborations already taken place between Crocs and Balenciaga so far, we can’t wait to see what the pair have in the pipeline next.
