Laughing. Because life is too short to spend it crying. And when there are so many hilarious comedians in town, courtesy of the Dubai Comedy Festival, it would be rude not too. We’ll also be giving in to our naughty side by getting carried away at a chocolate-focused brunch, before getting back on the wagon with a vegan day. Let’s not forget indulging our love of beauty products – especially when you can try before you buy…
Clutching our sides with laughter at the Dubai Comedy Festival
Your 10-day marathon of laughs starts tonight and we can hardly control our excitement. Taking place across various venues in Dubai, tonight you’ll need to get yourself to the Meyan Theatre at Jumeirah Beach hotel if you want to catch Middle Eastern funnumen Bader Saleh, Ali Al Sayed, Ibrahim Al Khairallah, Fahad Al Butairi, Waddah Swar, Mohammed Salem and Adi Khalefa in action. Dubai 3al Wagef, which has been billed as the greatest showcase of Arab comedy ever, starts at 7pm. For tickets go to dubai.platinumlist.net.
Indulging our Willy Wonker fantasies at a chocoholic brunch. (After getting your game face on)
Let’s face it: sometimes we want to head straight to the dessert buffet at brunch. Well now there’s no stopping you as the Chocoholic Brunch at Sanabel at the Sheraton Mall of the Emirates has returned for a third season with even more chocolate, bigger displays and a wider seletion of arts and crafts activities for the kids. Taking place from 12.30-4pm, prices start at Dhs199 for soft drinks packages while children under the age of six are free.
Before you hit brunch, why not pop into Sephora, Mall of the Emirates to get someone else do your make-up for you? From natural, to sun-kissed and all out glittering glamour, Sephora Beauty Studio offer 10 make-up looks for every season – and best of all, it’s free. But you’ll probably won’t leave empty-handed when you discover all the latest launches in Sephora’s beauty closet.
Eating clean at Jones the Grocer
While it’s nigh on impossible to resist the legendary carrot cake from our favourite Australian food emporium, Jones the Grocer, we’ll be ensuring today is a virtuous one with the Raw & Vegan promotion which runs until the end of the month. Don’t miss the rice paper rolls with tofu and slaw. Yes, it’s as delicious as it sounds. Then there’s a ridiculously good (and totally virtuous) blackberry and blueberry tart with a pistachio, walnut and date crust – who said being a vegetarian was boring?
Partying in Pink for Breast Cancer
If you haven’t done your bit yet for Breast Cancer Awareness month, then it’s time to jump in with both feet at a two-hour non-stop Zumbathon. Taking place at the Fitness First SportZone Meadows club, kids can get involved at 6pm before the main event – the ladies-only Party in Pink from 7-9pm. Organised in conjunction with the Pink Caravan, a pan UAE Breast Cancer Awareness initiative launched in 2011 by Friends of Cancer Patients, a UAE charitable organisation, it’s free to enter. Simply text your ‘name’ and ‘Zumbathon’ to 4900 to register.

Because we love bringing a smile to your face, we also want to remind you that Trevor Noah – one of our favourite comedians of all time – will be performing at the Dubai Comedy Festival on the main stage at Sky Dubai on October 24. For those who have been living under a rock, Trevor Noah is only the man who took over The Daily Show from seasoned veteran Jon Stewart last month. Trust us, this is one night out you won’t want to miss.
