What was on Valentino’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccoli’s mind for FW22? Pink.
Bold in tone, the colour was sprawled across the Le Carreau du Temple in Le Marais where the Italian fashion house presented its latest collection which was nothing short of a triumph.
The aim was simple, strip down to a single hue colour palette, letting the clothing truly do the talking.
Known as the Valentino Pink PP shade – which was created in collaboration with Pantone Color Institute – the idea was to showcase through one shade different the power of different silhouettes and constructs of the garment itself.
A play on texture, short hemlines, cinched waists, bows, ruffles, petals, lace and more were all showcased throughout the FW22 show, under the vision of Pierpaolo.
“Pink as a manifestation of the unconscious and a liberation from the need for realism,” the fashion house declared.
But, giving a complete twist in the show, the colour palette of the garments suddenly changed to a black hue which was a complete contrast to the pink surroundings of the elaborate venue.
Sitting front row was Zendaya, wearing a Pink PP Valentino suit, and Lewis Hamilton, to witness the “rampant” explosion of pink.
Dare we say it, could the Valentino Pink PP shade be the “new black”, or moreover, the new Bottega green? Time will tell…
