The next expected holiday will be for Islamic New Year, called the Hijri in Arabic. The Islamic New Year is dependent on the moon sighting committee, but it is expected to fall on either the 11th or 12th of September this year.
As the Hijri year is based on the lunar calendar, each year is shorter than the Gregorian calendar (running from January to December), and it arrives approximately 11 days earlier each year.
