In a recent Instagram picture, Khulood Thani posted a picture simply reading: “Don’t be afraid to dream big.” It’s advice the designer has taken herself after revealing she is to make her debut at the upcoming London Fashion Week. 

Emirati designer and founder of BINT THANI, Khulood Thani, is making her London Fashion Week debut after being commissioned by the British Council UAE to create an original fashion installation for Fashion Utopias: the International Fashion Showcase 2016.

The installation is a highlight of the prestigious international fashion week, which runs from February 25 to 28. The event features a series of specially commissioned and curated fashion installations featuring work by emerging designers from 24 countries and will be open to the public from February 19 – 23, 2016.

Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC) has endorsed BINT THANI’s original fashion installation, offer Khulood an unique chance to get the major international recognition she deserves – the installation will be viewed by many of the fashion world’s renowned editors, designers, and stylists.

Established by the British Council and British Fashion Council, the International Fashion Showcase provides a unique platform for budding designers from all over the world and celebrates diversity in fashion design.

While born and raised in Dubai, Khulood Thani’s fashion credentials are international – she has a Fashion Management and Marketing degree from ESMOD Paris, and she studied at the prestigious London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins.

After launching BINT THANI in 2012, Khulood rapidly became renowned in the UAE for its distinctive silk turbans and everyday luxury designs that are “grounded in Dubai yet have global relevance”. Her strong interest in Fashion History and major art and design movements heavily influence the label’s collections.

She works from her experimental studio set in Dubai’s industrial area of Al Quoz, where she also writes about fashion trends for a number of leading regional publications.
