UAE authorities have confirmed there will be a day off next week to mark the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

In a post on Twitter, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources confirmed there will be a day off for government employees on Thursday, October 21.

In their statement, FAHR said that the day had been “carried over” in the Federal Government, which means employees will have a three-day weekend next week.

The Prophet Mohammed’s birthday falls on 12 of the Hijri month of Rabi Al Awwal.

An official announcement for private sector employees is yet to be made, but the day off is expected to be the same.

As for the remainder of 2021, there will be one more long weekend following the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

To close out 2021, those in the UAE will have another three-day break to look forward to with Commemoration Day, December 1, and National Day, December 2, with a day off also on, December 3.
