Fabulous news: it’s the weekend. If you’re casting your eye around for something to do, look no further. Whether it’s a new super club, a Latin brunch, or a fascinating film you’re after, we’ve got you covered.

Thursday 8
Dance your way into the weekend
The hugely popular Chainsmokers are performing in Dubai on Thursday night as part of two-day festival Redfest, and we’re thinking it’s going to be packed out. The American EDM duo will be joined by Russ, Kelli-Leigh, and Anthony Touma at the Media City Ampitheatre, with more acts to follow on Friday. Make the most of this pleasantly cool weather and enjoy some al fresco music while you can.
Redfest, Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, Media City, Dubai. Thursday 8 and Friday 9 February, doors at 6pm Thursday & 4pm Friday. Tickets from Dhs395. redfestdxb.com.
Party with a pop star
The Jumeirah Beach Hotel’s Mahiki is a reliably good time, with a friendly crowd and very danceable tunes. This Thursday, UK singer Leigh Ann Pinnock (you’ll know her from girl group Little Mix) is hosting, and that means free cocktails for ladies until midnight. Get the girls together, we’d say.
Mahiki, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah, 7pm to 3am, free entry, door policy applies. Tel: (055) 2160 181. mahiki.com/dubai.
Friday 9
Take a tasty tour of Latin America
Vida Downtown is spicing up its Urban Picnic brunch this season, with a range of Latin American-inspired dishes. Think tables of nachos, tacos, chilli, and churros on tap, plus a live barbeque station with smoked beef brisket and slow cooked lamb sizzling away. Any one else’s tummies rumbling already…?
3 in 1 at Vida Downtown, Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai, 1pm to 5pm. Dhs310 per peron for soft drinks, Dhs360 per person with house beverages. Tel: (04) 888 3444. vidahotels.com.
Get a pizza for less than a coffee
We’re not opposed to a bit of luxury around here, as you will have noticed, but we also can’t turn down a bargain. To celebrate the US’s National Pizza Day on Friday, Pizza Express is offering up their classic margherita pizza for only Dhs9. You can’t even get a latte for that money. Outstanding.
Offer valid at all Pizza Express restaurants in the UAE except JLT and The Mall in Abu Dhabi. Must be used from 12-4pm on Friday February 9. Various locations in the UAE. pizzaexpress.ae.
Check out a huge new club
Drai’s is one of Las Vegas’s biggest super clubs, and to say its Dubai opening has been hotly anticipated would be a bit of an understatement. The wait is over, though, and Canadian rapper Tory Lanez is here to kick things off. Think a day-to-night pool party with a pretty excessive vibe.
Drai’s DXB, Meydan, Soho Garden, Dubai, 1pm to 3am, Friday February 9. Tel: (052) 388 8857. Facebook.com/draisdxb.
Saturday 10
Stretch out by the pool
And we don’t mean slathered in SPF30 with a book in hand. Coco on 8 at Media One Hotel is launching new weekly poolside yoga sessions to help you ease into your Saturday. For Dhs70 a class, you also get unlimited infused water, a towel and access to the changing room facilities, plus a little vitamin D and exercise all in one.
Coco on 8, Media One Hotel, Media City, Dubai, 9am to 10am, Dhs70 per person. Tel: 052 646 1764. mediaonehotel.com.
See an acclaimed Egyptian film
We love a bit of regional cinema, and this film from Egyptian director Hala Elkoussy looks gorgeous. Cactus Flower follows three strangers in Cairo, brought together when they all become homeless. It was a hit at last year’s Dubai International Film Festival.
Cactus Flower at Vox Cinemas, level two, Mall of the Emirates, Al Barsha, Dubai. Screening until February 21. Tickets through website or at cinema. Tel: (600) 599 9905. uae.voxcinemas.com.
