He may be at the forefront of the fashion scene but Tom Ford is a little behind the times when it comes to technology, having just launched his first e-commerce website. Tomford.com will now carry the label’s current season accessories for men and women as well as a selection of their popular fragrance and beauty lines.

While initially sceptical about the digital effect on the fashion world, the 52-year-old designer is now confident of his new new online venture remarking that the decision was a step in the right direction for the popular brand, whose celebrity fan base includes Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake. He said: “I have waited patiently to introduce e-commerce until I felt the foundation of the brand was well established offline, we now have 98 retail locations worldwide and the online store is an extension of them: it is a beautiful online space that carries exceptionally crafted, hand made products and offers superlative service.”

The visually conscious designer, who is also a film director, aimed for a theatrical look to the site with “cinematic-quality product images” giving a “rich visual experience.” Visitors are free to shop the new collections and view the latest ad and video campaigns in a refreshingly interactive experience.

While the clothing range is currently limited to shoes, handbags, jewellery, sunglasses and small leather goods, there are plans to include the latest ready-to-wear collections every season for both sexes. Currently shipping just to the US, with same-day delivery in the Manhattan area of New York, the brand has announced there are plans to expand to worldwide delivery as soon as possible. So, if you’re in the market for the latest Tom Ford looks come A/W14 they could just be a click away.
