Our condolences to the families of the victims
Yesterday, on Easter Sunday, the world awoke to horrific news that more than 200 people were killed in Sri Lanka. A series of coordinated bombings occurred in Colombo, the capital, targeting the country’s Roman Catholic minority on Easter.
The devastating attacks concentrated on churches where Easter mass was being held, as well as popular hotels where foreign tourists were staying, according to The New York Times. These attacks are meant to fill us with fear; however, messages of outpouring support and solidarity filled the internet shortly after.

HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid took to Instagram to share a series of images from the attack. He wrote: “Terrorists are those who betray worshippers in their places of worship, plant fear in their hearts and try to ignite religious conflicts in societies. Our condolences to the people of Sri Lanka, to the world and to everyone who works tirelessly towards tolerance and coexistence.”

Please read if you have time, and think about including these people in your prayers tomorrow. I’m Hindu, but Easter is one of the most moving and beautiful holidays. I do believe in the power of prayer, even from strangers half the world away. ❤️ https://t.co/fAMC0SkUgb

Extremely sad at the news of bombings in Sri Lanka. It’s unfortunate that one is not able to see that violence is like a chain reaction. This has to stop !
