If you didn’t already know, Spotify experienced a severe outage yesterday.

While the issues didn’t appear to be worldwide, reportedly concentrated in the main US New York and Los Angeles, the news certainly was.

Users flocked to social media to share they were experiencing issues accessing both the app and desktop site, where errors were being encountered with messages saying username and passwords were incorrect.

Meanwhile, others experienced Spotify’s desktop site saying, “We’re all mixed up. Refresh this page or try again later. It may take some time to get things up again.”

Spotify confirmed the news of the issues themselves on Twitter saying, “Something’s not quite right, and we’re looking into it. Thanks for your reports!”

While the outage only occurred for a few short hours, for those who are regular users it would have seemed like a lifetime.

So, what was the best thing to do to pass the time? Share a slew of memes and reactions about the outage.

During the Spotify outage, news also emerged communication app, Discord, was down too.

This could be regarded as one of the most significant outages online in recent months after the huge social media shutdown.

Known as #InternetShutdown, Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp took a major hit in October 2021 with a reported 10.6 million being affected by outages at the time. The issue? An apparent “faulty configuration change”.

However, perhaps from time-to-time these outages should be mandatory, giving us all a much-needed detox from the online world.
