The ruler of Dubai and Queen of Jordan praise the females of the region on International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day is a cause for celebrating our fellow females and coming together to promote gender equality and inclusivity.

And two regional icons are leading by example.

Queen Rania Al-Abdullah shared an image of herself surrounded with women, and accompanied it with an inspiring message.

“Grateful for the persevering women empowering their communities!” the Jordanian royal wrote.

“You are all symbols of strength & generosity on International Women’s Day.”

‘Most of my team are women’

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also posted a heartwarming message to the women of the UAE ahead of the annual event.

The royal revealed most of his staff are made up of females, in an Instagram picture published on Tuesday.

“In the UAE we are proud to recognise [women] for their inspiration and great contributions,” wrote Sheikh Mohammed.

The post has been liked more than 29,000 times in just a few hours, with many followers thanking the ruler for his ongoing support of women.

Sheikh Mohammed wasn’t the only royal shining the spotlight on the nation’s females either.

Mother of the Nation Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak praised the achievements of women in the UAE in an address on Tuesday, The National reports.

Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood,

“The late Sheikh Zayed made every possible effort to support the talents of Emirati women and to develop social conditions which encourage women’s advancement to fully participate in public life,” the chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and president of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood said.

“The Emirates is one of the few countries in the world where the literacy rate of women is higher than that of men.”

The royal also revealed 66 per cent of the UAE’s public sector employees are women, and many hold high-ranking positions in a range of fields.

 “I look forward to the day when we can celebrate International Women’s Day when all forms of discrimination and violence against women have been eliminated,” she said.
