With the current movement ban in and out of Abu Dhabi in place, residents have had to stay put in the emirate for the past two weeks.
However, on Tuesday night it was announced by the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee that UAE citizens and residents would now be allowed to leave the emirate without the need of a permit.
This amendment was made to the current restrictions in place on movement in and out of the UAE’s capital, which has been implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19.

This comes after the movement ban was extended for a second time after the restriction was originally put in place on June 2.
As of Tuesday, June 16, movement in and out of the UAE’s capital will be suspended for another seven days, per an announcement from the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee, the Abu Dhabi Police and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health.
The restrictions apply to all residents as well as UAE nationals, with people being allowed to move between the region they live during the allotted curfew timings, 10pm to 6am.
The movement ban was implemented in order for the national screening programme to take place in order to curb the spread of COVID-19. Under the programme, more than 388,000 people have been tested.
