The Emirates Culinary Guild (ECG) successfully hosted the 27th Emirates Salon Culinaire (ESC) from May 20th to 22nd, 2024, at the Expo Centre Sharjah.
The event was held alongside the Expoculinaire exhibition, making it a three-day extravaganza of culinary competitions and displays.
Over 900 chefs from the UAE and 11 other countries competed in 39 categories, showcasing their skills in everything from practical cookery to Emirati cuisine, cake decorating, and showpiece creations. An international panel of judges, including ECG veterans Otto Wiebel, Uwe Micheel, and Martin Kobald, presided over the competition.
This year’s event also saw the return of the Alen Thong Golden Coffee Pot Challenge for young chefs, won by the team from the Chinese Chefs Association. Additionally, a new competition, the Sounbula Artisan Bakery Arena, was introduced, with The Westin taking home the gold medal.
Guild President Andy Cuthbert expressed his pride in the event’s success and highlighted the growth of the culinary arts in the UAE. He also commended the sponsors and industry supporters who made the event possible.
The ECG is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting culinary arts in the UAE. It is part of the World Association of Chefs Societies, an international fellowship of professional chefs’ organizations.
