Two decades after their love story first began, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are now officially husband and wife.

The singer, colloquially known as JLo, confirmed the joyous news to her fans via her ‘On The JLo’ newsletter, sharing a few photographs from the intimate ceremony in Las Vegas.

The blushing bride also described the ceremony as “the best possible wedding we could have imagined… one we dreamed of long ago… at very, very long last”.

JLo wore two wedding dresses for the nuptials. The first was showcased in a video of the bride by celebrity hairdresser Chris Appleton. JLo wore a simple high-neck, sleeveless white dress.

The singer then changed into a bridal ensemble by Lebanese couturier Zuhair Murad – an off-the-shoulder corseted dress with a sweetheart neckline.

In the past, Lopez admitted the Arab designer is her “favourite”. “I love Zuhair, he’s probably my favourite,” she said in a previous interview.

She first wore a gown by the designer to the 2010 Met Gala and since then has continued to champion the couturier’s impeccable creations.

“I wore his dress to the Met Ball and after that, I just started using him for everything… we just have a great relationship,” she recalled. “He’s a beautiful man, a beautiful designer.”

Thus, it’s no surprise the star opted for a Zuhair Murad gown for her wedding to Affleck – a moment they (and all of us) have been waiting for for over two decades.

The wedding

Finally getting their ‘happily ever after’ together after 20 years, the couple wed in Las Vegas over the weekend at the A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.

In a court filing obtained by E! News, it appears JLo has legally changed her name to ‘Jennifer Affleck’.

The new bride also shared a few details of her own in her newsletter.

“So with the best witnesses you could ever imagine, a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet, we read our own vows in the little chapel and gave one another the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives,” JLo detailed in the newsletter. “They even had Bluetooth for a (short) march down the aisle.”

“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” she added.

Second chances

JLo and Affleck, known as ‘Bennifer’, announced their second engagement back in April of this year, nearly two decades after they were due to wed the first time.

The singer herself confirmed the news via her fan newsletter in a short video which showed a tearful admiring a gorgeous green diamond ring on her engagement ring finger.

The engagement comes a year after the pair began dating in April last year and nearly 20 years after the pair were set to wed for the first time in the early 2000s.

JLo and Affleck first began dating in July 2002  after meeting on the set of Gigli in 2001. The couple’s relationship was heavily publicised and a somewhat media storm at the time.

The pair became engaged for the first time in November 2002. Affleck proposed with a pink diamond ring reportedly worth an eye-watering $2.5 million.

Bennifer were set to marry on September 14, 2003, but was postponed due to what was cited at the time as “excessive media attention” surrounding the nuptials. Four months later in January 2004, they announced they had split.

Affleck went on to marry actress Jennifer Garner in 2005 but split up in 2018. The pair have three children together.

Meanwhile, Jlo went on to marry Marc Anthony in 2004, with whom she has two children. The pair divorced in 2014 after 10 years of marriage. Most recently, JLo was engaged to former professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez. They began dating in 2017 and became engaged in 2019. However, the couple announced their split in April 2021.
