Having transformed in a short span of time, Dubai has been seen around the world in several blockbuster films featuring A-list celebrities.
Vanguard, (2020)
This action thriller presents an array of prestigious locations around Dubai. Famous hotspots including Downtown Dubai, Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall were featured in the film. Starring one of the most popular personalities in Hollywood, Jackie Chan is seen in this action-packed adventure film.
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
This space-opera film was the first of its kind to be shot in Dubai. The emirate witnessed a major science fiction production in Dubai Studio City with robust infrastructure and advance filming equipment at that time. Several iconic locations such as Burj Al Arab, Central Park in DIFC and Al Mas Tower also made their way to the film.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
All Star Wars aficionados were ecstatic when the UAE was seen on the big screen in this famous film. Just a few kilometres away from Dubai was an extraordinary setting with a life-sized market built in the desert.
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)
Burj Khalifa is seen as the centerpiece of this highly popular film. With Tom Cruise climbing the world’s tallest building, it has certainly become a defining moment for this iconic franchise. The scene gained worldwide traction, make it the talk of the town for many. One of the other popular scenes included was a chase scene in the emirate’s sandstorm. The world premiere took place in Dubai on December 7, 2011.
City of Life (2009)
Shot entirely in Dubai, this multicultural film depicted several aspects of day-to-day life in the most subtle manner. From Dubai Creek to the city’s historical districts, various authentic elements were captured in the film. The life of individuals from three different ethnicities are captured, allowing the movie to make strides worldwide.
Syriana (2005)
This geo-political film was shot across five continents with the Middle East being a large part. From the sandy desert to the vast expanse of open spaces, some of the most sought-after scenes were shot in the iconic emirate
