The tragic death of George Floyd while in police custody has sparked anger across the world with riots taking over cities in America and beyond.

Many have taken to social media to support those fighting for justice and highlight once again that all lives matter. Gigi Hadid and Halima Aden joined other celebrities in expressing their disgust at what happened, with many of their posts trending on Instagram.

One image in particular has become a symbol of the movement and was illustrated by Hijabi artist Shirien Damra which has gained over 3.3 million likes.

Damra’s ‘Justice for George’ illustration shows Floyd surrounded by flowers. In her caption she wrote that his death was “reminiscent of the death of Eric Garner” and added that this act of violence showed “the massive injustice, zero accountability and white supremacy embedded in the “criminal justice” system.”

“Heartbroken, angry and disgusted,” she said. “This must end. Much love and solidarity to Black communities grieving another beautiful life lost. May George Floyd Rest in Power.”

Damra has previously used her platform to express her anger at the injustices, including Breonna Taylor and  Ahmaud Arbery.

Lebanese illustrator Nour Flayhan was also moved to act and used her creative eye to design an impactful image of the protests in Minnesota.

Similarly, Pakistani artist Sara Shakeel also posted an image of Floyd decorated in her signature crystals saying, “As a fellow human #georgefloyd I am sorry ! [sic] Rather than fixing ourselves and learning from our past mistakes, we are going back in time! Back to how primitive we were! All we had to do was to let you breathe!”
