DAY ONE
A storm may have been brewing here in Dubai, but the ninth season of FFWD kicked off to a fashion-fabulous start as the style set came together to watch the region’s local talent on the runway.
BEST SHOW: Arwa Al Banawi
Known for her vivid and creative collections, Arwa Al Banawi’s S/S17 collection was an exotic mix of colour, print and impeccably cut pieces. The bold red jackets were a firm favourite with the FROW and fashion editors alike, with their sharp shoulder pads and a contrasting white lapel.
The show wasn’t without some evening glamour either, as gold sequins adorned mannish blazers and sparkling asymmetric dresses.

Wearing Fila and Adidas, Layan makes tracksuit pants look luxe with white heels and tinted sunnies.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY: Michael Cinco’s larger than life Disney-esque dresses sweeping down the catwalk.
DAY TWO
The rain continued to pour, but that didn’t dampen the mood on Dubai’s fashion elite. The FROWs were packed and a host of local designers – including Kristina Fidelskya, Abed Mafouz and Emperor – showcased their A/W17 collections. The talk of the day, ‘Getting Smart on Fashion’, was hosted by Sarah Hermez, founder of Creative Space in Beirut.
BEST SHOW: Abed Mafouz
Lebanese designer Abed Mafouz wowed us with a stunning collection of dresses featuring intricate embroidery, frothy ruffled shoulders and sheer skirts. Our favourite? The glistening golden gown with sheer caped shoulders.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY: Cheyma’s fashionably fun runway beauty look.
DAY THREE
The last day saw a strong finish to Season 9 of Fashion Forward, with jaw-dropping presentations from our local favourites, Lama Jouni, Bedouin Studios, Zayan the Label and Kage.
