IN PARTNERSHIP: As the UAE’s rich cultural heritage and achievement over the past 50 years calls for celebration, Abu Dhabi has a host of activities planned across the long weekend and beyond.

Whether you’re looking for adrenaline-fuelled fun or simply want to watch an enticing fireworks display, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT) has lined a list of events from December 1 to December 3, 2021.

As the UAE gears up for a host of events to celebrate its Golden Jubilee, UAE’s capital will host 20 different immersive experiences across the emirate to showcase the best.

Here’s what to watch out for on this special occasion.

Fireworks Display

Fireworks Abu Dhabi

A picturesque fireworks display will light up the skies above Al Maryah Island on December 2 and 3, 2021, starting at 9pm. The scintillating National Day fireworks display will be displayed on Abu Dhabi’s night skies on December 2 including Abu Dhabi Corniche, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. Adding to the list of displays is the National Day Fireworks Show at Bawabat Al Sharq Mall on December 2 at 8pm.

Performances

Ensuring everyone remains entertained throughout the celebrations, Iraqi artist Majed Al Mohandis and Iraqi singer-songwriter Aseel Hameem, will take center stage on December 1 at the majestic Emirates Palace. The other performances taking place include Emirati singer Hamad Al Ameri at Qasr Al Hosn on December 2 and Ahlam at the Louvre to close the weekend. Adding to the charm are enlightening performances by Cultural Foundation including Sailing the Silk Road by the renowned Caracalla Dance Theatre.

Audiences will also have an opportunity to view a skydive show and formation just with 16 professionals carrying the UAE flag and presenting a ‘50’ above the city. Paramotor and Parasailing show will also make for a gorgeous spectacle, featuring 50 airplanes and local pilots.

Screenings

To dig into the country’s archives, Bawabat Al Sarq mall will present a special screening of Majlis the Story of the 50th, a film which delves into the history and how it all began.

Art

For the creatives, a special screening by Emirati filmmakers will take place, while Abu Dhabi’s interactive art studio, Manarat Al Saadiyat will showcase interactive art installations and workshops over the long weekend. For understanding the UAE’s rich history, Bait Mohammed bin Khalifa and Al Jahilli Fort will display historical artefacts that show the last 50 years.

Shopping

Shopping Abu Dhabi

For all the shopping enthusiasts, the Abu Dhabi Winter shopping season begins on December 2, 2021, until January 31, 2022. Adding to the excitement are exclusive deals, discounts and a plethora of shop-and-win promotions across renowned brands at various malls.

With luminous lights enveloping the capital, residents and tourists are all set to be enamoured by the vibrancy to celebrate the UAE’s awe-inspiring milestone. As the main focus, the UAE flag displayed with 50 and the UAE emblem, will be the main attraction.
