Which will you watch?

Eid Al-Adha is just a few days away, so if you haven’t planned how you will spend your vacation, we suggest you do so soon. Now that the holidays have been announced for the private and public sector, we can start making our plans. You could chose to travel, or spend your days off in a spectacular staycation in the UAE, or go to the movies – you will be spoilt for choice.

It has become somewhat of a tradition in the region that big-shot movie stars release films around Eid breaks. Every year, the Arab world’s biggest names in drama, action and comedy bring their A-game during this occasion, competing to have the most-watched films during the Eid break. Here are this year’s Eid Al-Adha movies and when they will be released in the UAE.

The Blue Elephant 2 – Karim Abdel Aziz

The sequel to the 2014 hit, based on a book of the same name. This film picks up five years after the events of the first part, Dr. Yehia marries Lobna and gets assigned a new case from the 8-West Women’s Ward. Soon, he realises that someone is trying to manipulate his life as well as his family’s. In an attempt to take control of all ongiong events and solve the mysteries he’s facing, Yehia turns to the “Blue Elephant” pills .

Most of the first film’s cast returned for this movie including Karim Abdel Aziz, Nelly Karim and Sherein Reda and Khaled El Sawy. Moreover, Tunisian-Egyptian actress Hend Sabry and Jordanian actor, Eyad Nassar joined the main cast, with a stellar performance. Even though it is a Eid movie, it has already been released weeks ago to great reviews and an even greater box-office numbers.

Welad Rizk 2 – Ahmed Ezz

Seems like this is the Eid of sequels, as 2015’s hit film, Welad Rizk got a second part. In this sequel, three years have passed after the events of the first part. The four brothers try their best to keep their oath to stay away from the life of crime. As one unexpected incident takes place in their lives, everything changes and they find themselves stepping into new worlds in which they must face deadly criminals.

A lot of the previous cast has returned including: Ahmed Ezz, Ahmed Dawood, Mohamed Mamdouh, Amr Youssef, Ahmed El Fishawy, and Nesreen Amin. New faces include:m Khaled El Sawy, Asser Yassine and Ghada Adel.

Khayaal Ma’atah – Ahmed Helmy

Egyptian comedia Ahmed Helmy is making his comeback this Eid. Khayaal Ma’atah is about a group of close friends who did a heist job when they were young, then went their separate ways. They come together again thirty years later, remembering that time and discussing the reasons that led them to steal.

The Money – Tamer Hosny

Egyptian singer and actor, Tamer Hosny is returning to the silver screen this Eid with his latest movie, The Money. He will be joined by an incredible cast, including: action superstar Ahmed El Sakka, Zeina, Khaled El Sawy, Mai Ezz-eldin and more.

El-Kenz 2: Al-Hobb wa Al-Maseer

The sequel resumes with Hassan setting out to find the treasure buried in his father, Bashir Al-Katatni’s mansion. The clues in the ancient papyrus documents are within the stories of Hatshepsut in the Pharaonic era, Ali-the-Mercury during the Ottoman era and his father, Bashir Al-Katatini, Head of State Security Investigations Service during the rulership of the Khedival dynastyin the 1940s.

The star-studded cast returns in this sequel to El-Kenz. It includes: Amina Khalil, Mohamed Ramadan, Ruby, Hend Sabry, Ahmed Hatem, Hany Adel, Mohamed Saad, Ahmed Malek and more.
