As pent-up creativity has forged its way back into the industry, Paris Haute Couture Week for Fall/Winter 2021-22 has made its return with some of the most renowned names that presented their collections via both physical or virtual shows on the runway.

With couture outfits ready to adorn the fashion runway, the French capital gears up to host the crème de la crème from the world of luxury fashion, while several A-listers sit front row to witness these intricate designs that have showcased craftsmanship at its finest.

From Chanel to Giambattista Vali, the most exceptional shows have taken place so far, with a revered history that has transformed its audience to the bygone era from where it all started.

As Emirates Woman takes a look at all the designers that have presented to date, we shed light on all the intricacy and themes which these fashion heads have garnered through the show.

Christian Dior

As Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s artistic director continues to highlight the Maison’s trademark, fauna-inspired textiles dominated the runway with historical references including graphic knits and airy drapes to evoke the senses through a natural aesthetic. Artist Eva Jospin designed an impeccable setting that offered a rather ornamental effect.

Schiaparelli

With a digital take on Haute Couture, Schiaparelli’s video presentation highlighted surreal pieces with glistening detailing on pieces that included Matador jackets, tulle gowns, sleek silhouettes and many other pieces that the brand is famous for. As Elsa Schiaparelli continues to instil the brand’s DNA in each piece, an aura of romanticism was felt through the collection.

Chanel

Showcased in the heart of Paris, impeccably tailored suits emulated a 19-century impressionist era, as the houses’ timeless tweed coats and floral embroidered dresses made an artistic comeback with a modern touch. While evoking a spirit of escapism through the runway presentation, Viard took the audience back in time to Coco Chanel’s love for 1920s fashion amongst the neo-renaissance splendour of the Palais Galliera, City of Paris Fashion Museum.

Georgès Hobeika

Capturing a form of minimal elegance, these woven silhouettes spell harmonious all over them as the mod movement slowly weaved its way back to the collection, where the swinging sixties witnessed a time of youthful hedonism in its fashion. As a retro flair was captured in each piece, these evanescent silhouettes truly captivated the runway’s audience.

Iris Van Herpen

Recognized as one of the most forward-thinking creators of our time, Iris Van Herpen’s digital show was composed of an effortless grace with subtle gradient colours that emulated a sort of space odyssey-themed collection. While thinking out of the box yet again, the Earthrise collection allowed its audience to witness haute couture in the air through an aerial performance that went beyond the norm. In a partnership with science, new means were explored for creating pieces that merged durability with delicate craftsmanship
