His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has mourned the death of the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Following the announcement of Sheikh Khalifa’s passing, Sheikh Mohammed issued a public statement paying tribute to the late President of the UAE.
Sharing a message in Arabic, the Ruler of Dubai honoured Sheikh Khalifa highlighting he was an inspiration to many and lived a life of service to the people of the UAE.
He also sent his condolences to Sheikh Khalifa’s family and loved ones sending them “patience and solace”.
“May he rest in the highest paradise,” Sheikh Mohammed also said.

UAE declares 40-day mourning period
The UAE has announced a 40-day mourning period following the death of President Sheikh Khalifa.
The Ministry of Presidential Affairs confirmed via the UAE’s state news agency, WAM, that the mourning period would begin today, Friday, May 13, 2022.
Work will be suspended for three days for all ministries, departments, federal and local institutions and the private sector employees starting today.
The UAE flag will also be flown at half-mast starting today for the full mourning period.
