Dolce & Gabbana’s new flagship store in Mall of the Emirates has finally opened and proving that it is fully catering to its Middle East audience, the new shop boasts the Italian designers’ latest range of abayas.
When it was first revealed earlier this year that Dolce & Gabbana had launched a hijab and abaya collection we thought it was going to break the internet (sorry Kim K!), such was the demand and attention it garnered.
However, while the collection proved a huge success it was hard to find in stores, until now that is.
The 1,103sqm Dolce & Gabbana store in Mall of the Emirates, which opened over the weekend, spans two floors, and is the brand’s largest boutique in the region.
The decadent decor (think Sahara Noir marble facades, gold embellishments and velvet in abundance) reflects the lavish designs of the collections. While the abayas are certainly the stars of the show – the mannequins are draped in the gorgeous collection – the ready-to-wear lines and the special made-to-measure suit section for men are equally as impressive.

“For this [abaya] collection, we kept some of our iconic elements, such as the lace and polka dots, with the addition of animal prints,” said Stefano Gabbana of the vibrant collection that reflects the signature aesthetics of the ready-to-wear line. Expect banana leaves and pink tulip print, as well as hues of grey, beige and old rose.
While Dolce & Gabbana’s second abaya collection is available UAE-wide, the layout of the Mall of Emirate’s store allows customers to peruse the collection in relative privacy at the back of the boutique.
As well as creating a turning point in fashion – as a Western brand focusing on Middle Eastern designs – the forward-thinking Italian duo have also tailored to the needs of their Arab customers in the design of their new store.
The new Dolce & Gabbana boutique is divided into two floors, with the women’s collection on the first floor and the men’s on the second floor.
Adhering to the privacy needs of its customers both sections have independent main entrances from the mall corridor. Both the women’s and men’s floors are connected by a grand spiral staircase, which becomes the centrepiece of the store, visible from inside and outside.
