It’s official: curfew restrictions across Dubai and the rest of the UAE have been lifted.

This announcement came from the UAE government, marking the end of the National Sterilisation Programme which has been underway for the last few months in order to curb the spread of COVID-19.

In a statement issued by Dubai Media Office, it was revealed Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, along with the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, that curfew restrictions are no longer in place “allowing free movement all day and night”.

However, it was reiterated compliance with social distancing measures and wearing masks is still required.

The National Sterilisation Programme has been in effect for the last few months across Dubai and the UAE.

Previously Dubai was on a 24-hour lockdown due to the programme, meaning movement permits were required. Since then a nightly curfew has been in place.

Most recently a curfew in Dubai was in place from 11pm to 6am. This came after many restrictions across the emirate were lifted on May 27, meaning many businesses could reopen including restaurants and hotels.
