‘Ready to respond’
HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has opened the new field hospital based at the Dubai World Trade Centre, which has been built to support the treatment of patients suffering from coronavirus.
With over 3,000 available beds, the hospital is the largest in the Middle East. The large-scale medical facility also includes 800 spots for intensive care patients in the event of a spike of increase in COVID-19 cases.
His Highness shared a video whilst he took a tour of the new facilities in DWTC on Saturday with his four million Twitter followers.

“We are grateful our healthcare situation is stable due to the leadership’s support, our entities’ efforts and the community’s commitment,” he said.
“The Dubai Government, its medical staff, frontline defence teams and volunteers are prepared and ready to respond to their calls of duty.
“Today, your health and safety is our top priority and we are committed, as always, to provide services for the well-being of everyone in Dubai.”
Similarly over the weekend, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, issued a message of hope and solidarity amidst the pandemic.
Putting forward the message that the UAE will “win” the fight against the pandemic, the video His Highness posted depicted the solidarity that occurs during sporting tournaments, conveying the idea we are all on the same side.

At present, as part of efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the UAE, the national sterilisation programme in Dubai is currently underway, meaning all residents are required to stay home for 24 hours a day.
If residents need to leave, they must only do so for essential reasons including grocery shopping and collecting pharmacy goods. A permit must be obtained in order for residents to leave the house.
