On Sunday evening, Burj Khalifa lit up in solidarity for India with the tri-coloured flag as the UAE extended its support towards the spike in COVID-19 cases in the nation.

The words ‘Stay Strong India’ were also emblazoned on the world’s tallest building.

With a major portion of UAE’s population consisting of Indian expatriates, many of their family members back home have been hit by the latest coronavirus wave with an acute shortage of medical facilities for them back home.

The official Twitter account for Burj Khalifa took a post to Twitter which read, “Sending hope, prayers, and support to India and all its people during this challenging time.”

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India, the current ongoing active cases are at 2,813,658 with 14,304,382 discharged and a total of 195,123 deaths.

The COVID-19 situation has worsened over the last few days, due to the need for medical oxygen and beds for patients with different states in India reporting a shortage in essential medical supplies due to a surge in demand over the last few days.

The UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK, France, the EU and Pakistan have stepped in to help India as they continue to fight for the safety of their citizens by providing the best these countries can.

Earlier this week on Saturday, Saudi Arabia shipped 80 metric tonnes of liquid oxygen while Pakistan also showed their support by sending across ventilators, oxygen supply kids, digital X-ray machines, PPEs and other such necessities.
