Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor has tested positive for coronavirus for a fifth time.

A couple of weeks ago, in a now-deleted Instagram post, the Indian confirmed she went into “complete quarantine… following medical advice”.

Kapoor is currently receiving treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, a hospital in the ‘Babydoll’ singer’s hometown of Lucknow.

The patients who are being treated for coronavirus in the hospital, including Kapoor, are reportedly tested every 48 hours. In order to be released from observation, patients have to test negative for the virus twice.

For the 41-year-old, she has now tested positive for COVID-19 five times and this was reportedly the fifth test that was conducted on her.

However, the director of the institute, Dr RK Dhiman, stated there was no cause for concern and that the singer is in a stable condition.

A couple of days ago Kapoor told her 3.5 million Instagram followers she was “fine” and thanked everyone for their “concern”. She also shared her hopes for a negative test.

Prior to her diagnosis, Kapoor had been in London and claimed she didn’t feel any symptoms of the virus until 10 days after returning to India.

Last week, according to the Times of India, Kapoor alleged the treatment she was receiving at the hospital was sub-standard and is claiming the room she was given is unhygienic and filled with mosquitoes.

However, the director of the hospital, where Kapoor is receiving treatment, refuted her claims. In a statement to the Times of India, Dr RK Dhiman said she should be acting like a “patient and not a star”.

At present India – a country with a population of over one billion – has 1,397 confirmed cases of coronavirus, 1,238 of which are currently active.

In the UAE, there have been 664 confirmed coronavirus cases – 61 have recovered and six have been fatal.
