The Venice Film Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in the world.
Founded in 1932, it is held annually on the island of Lido in Venice, Italy. It is one of the “Big Three” film festivals alongside the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival. The festival features several competitive and non-competitive categories, including the main competition (Venezia 78), where films compete for the prestigious Golden Lion award.
The festival serves as a platform for showcasing a wide range of international films, from mainstream to independent and arthouse cinema. It often premieres highly anticipated films and serves as a launchpad for awards season contenders.
Besides its cultural prestige, celebrities from across the globe use this platform to garner extensive eyeballs through their strong sartorial choices. Paired with seasoned couturiers or new designers, actors, singers, models and other mainstays of the entertainment industry showcase their individual style on the red carpet and other associated events.
This season began with Hollywood Royalty George and Amal Clooney attending the DVF Awards, where Amal was honoured with the Leadership Award for her work as a human rights lawyer. Known for her elegant sense of style, Amal picked a vintage Dior dress for the night, and her husband complemented the look in a classic black suit.
Armani Beauty brought a host of Hollywood beauties to Venetian waters – from Camila Mendes and Lili Reinhart of Riverdale fame to Sadie Sink and Sydney Sweeney of Euphoria and Stranger Things.
