Be still our beating hearts…

Anthony Joshua could be heading to the UAE. The boxer’s promoter Eddie Hearn has hinted that Dubai would be the perfect location for the upcoming Anthony Joshua vs Wilder match – that is, if someone cough ups the AED110-183 million sponsorship money needed to host the fight.

Eddie claimed that he receives at least two or three requests a week to host a march in the region. “I’d love to do an event in Dubai if they come up with the money,” Hearn told Gulf News. “They’ve done it with golf and have even held a few MMA events in Abu Dhabi. It’s only a matter of time. With Dubai, you can sell tickets and bring in international TV for pay-per-view with world sponsorship as well,” he added.

If the match is confirmed, it wouldn’t be the first time the boxer has visited the UAE. The heavyweight champ trained in a makeshift boxing ring on top of the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai last November to promote Dubai’s Fitness Challenge. At the time, it was dubbed ‘the world’s highest boxing ring’.

He returned in January for a holiday with his mum, son, and extended family and friends this year. On the family trip, they went zip-lining and headed to the beach.
