Alexander McQueen has unveiled its latest release with a first occurring for the fashion house under the direction of creative director Sarah Burton.

It was a dual release showcasing the women’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection and the men’s pre-Fall/Winter 2021.

What exactly inspired the latest collections? The essence of what Alexander McQueen is known for.

“Shape, silhouette and volume, the beauty of the bare bones of clothing stripped back to its essence – a world charged with emotion and human connection,” Burton says.

The release of the collection was presented with an ethereal film directed by Jonathan Glazer.

Entitled ‘First Light’ models are seen strolling around the banks of the Thames trying to share human emotions, it portrayed an element of surrealism as the muses had a socially distant connection with each other.

The English filmmaker beautifully captured these unexpected moments by taking inspiration from celebrities’ fashion moments of them taking dips into the Thames’ waters adding an element of intensity to the direction with both menswear and womenswear being featured in the new campaign.
