If you hadn’t gathered by now (after all, we do moan a lot over summer), we’re not great in the heat.
And a lack of outdoors time over the warmer months can mean we end up looking a little pale come July and August.
Hence why a healthy dusting of blush becomes our beauty go-to over summer – nothing imparts a radiant glow quite like a little colour on the cheeks, right?
However we often find a becoming pinky sheen has disappeared somewhat by 3pm, leaving us looking a touch wan and worn-out.

So, with news that humidity is due to reach 80 per cent this week (yikes!), we’ve dedicated the next installment of our summer beauty series to long-wearing blushers that can survive a sticky afternoon stroll.
All of the below have been tried and tested by us (we promise), and have survived a full day at work, still as evident on our skin at 10pm as they were when first applied.
We’ve struggled to find any high-street brands as hardy as the below offerings (though honourable mentions go to Revlon’s Insta-Blusha and L’Oreal’s True Match Super-Blendable Blush). Got a great recommendation? Share it in the comments!
Make Up For Ever HD Blush, Dhs145
We’re big fans of the brand’s HD Foundation, and its cheek-colour equivalent doesn’t disappoint. The cream-to-powder formula means it blends easily and has a matte-but-natural finish with plenty of staying power. In fact, it’s probably the most fade resistant blush in our arsenal, and sits beautifully both under and on-top-of powder and foundation.
Benefit’s Benetint, Dhs150
When it comes to a texture that won’t smudge, you can’t really beat a stain – and this version really is the OG, for good reason. The water-like fluid takes some getting used to, but our best advice is to apply very sparingly with your fingers, and blend quickly. Because once this is dry, it’s not going anywhere for at least 12 hours. The finish is super sheer, giving you a natural flush, and the line has since expanded to offer peachy and pinkier tones, so you should find something to best suit your complexion.
Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Glow, Dhs 101
Stains and powders tend to be the hardiest formulas – especially on combination or oily skins – but if you prefer the texture of a cream blush, you won’t go wrong with this one. It’s hard to get hold of in person (find it online here), but it’s worth the delivery cost, we promise. The Creamy Glow delivers a soft wash of colour that can be built up for a more vibrant finish, and blends particularly well using fingers or sponges. The curated colour range is full of winners, and the satiny, not greasy, texture has impressive longevity, especially on drier skins.

NARS Blush, Dhs165
Well, this entry is hardly a surprise is it, as you’ll see one of these iconic palettes in most celebrity and makeup artists’ beauty bags. Pressed powder blushes can be much of a muchness between brands, but NARS’ version is typically so richly pigmented that it fades far slower than most of its rivals. (It also shows up brilliantly on all skin tones, fair to dark). The sheer amount of colours of offer is staggering, with finishes including everything from translucent mattes to sparkles that stand out at night.
Chanel Joues Contraste, Dhs200
If silky and a touch sheeny is your finish of choice, these compacts will see you right. The pearlescent colours add a healthy dewiness to the skin, without actual glitter, and the pigmentation is strong enough to guarantee at least 10 hours of wear. Finish-wise, it’s a solid dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, which haven’t yet arrived on our shores, and the subtler shades make for a perfect daytime option.
