One baby has already qualified for quite the frequent fliers programme, before he’s even one week old.
The tot, who was born mid-air on a flight between Saudi Arabia and India, will get free air travel for life on Jet Airways, the carrier has announced.
The Indian airline was forced to divert its plane to Mumbai on Sunday after a passenger went into labour during the scheduled five-hour flight between Dammam and Kochi.

The “healthy” boy now holds the title of the first baby born on a Jet Airways flight.
“The guest delivered a baby boy at 35,000 feet,” an airline spokesperson said. “Upon landing, both mother and the baby were rushed to Holy Spirit Hospital in Mumbai and are doing well.
“Being the first baby to be born in-flight for the airline, Jet Airways is pleased to offer the newly-born a free lifetime pass for all his travel on Jet Airways.”
The new mum went into premature labour over the Arabian Sea and, with no doctor on board, was aided in her delivery by a female nurse and cabin crew, the Huffington Post reports,

This isn’t the first baby born mid-air recently either – a traveller went into early labour onboard a Turkish Airlines flight between Istanbul and Burkina Faso in April.
Mother Nafi Diaby was 28 weeks pregnant when contractions began to set in, and safely delivered a daughter named Kadiju with the help of cabin staff.
Typically, most airlines allow expectant mothers to fly up until they’re 36 weeks pregnant, with the addition of a doctors’ note to state they are fit to travel from 28 weeks onwards.
