This Middle Eastern carrier is making a name for itself with its snappy wisecracks.

There’s a reason why Royal Jordanian Airlines has a crown in its logo – it’s firmly established itself as king of the one-liners.

In a world where shaky international relations and political turbulence are making long-distance travel increasingly challenging, you can count on Jordan’s national carrier to keep delivering the sass.

Here are some of our favourite calls from Royal Jordanian…

It’s the celebrity break-up everyone’s talking about right now – Selena Gomez and The Weeknd.

Royal Jordanian was quick to offer its support to the Bad Liar singer, suggesting the perfect “weekend” destination to help her get over the split (Jordan, naturally).

In May, US President Donald Trump was ridiculed for an incoherent tweet which read: “Despite the constant negative press covfefe”.

Though Trump deleted the tweet, it wasn’t long before “covfefe” was trending – and Royal Jordanian was quick to capitalise on the gaffe.

“Offering wide covfefe of the USA through our gateway cities,” the airline’s advert read, showing flight deals for New York, Chicago and Detroit.

Royal Jordanian’s marketing team is becoming notorious for these kinds of cheeky advertisements, often based on controversial world issues and current affairs.

On Jordan Independence Day, the airline shared another post, referring to the nation’s years under the British Mandate. The post said: “Celebrating Brexit… since 1946.”

Royal Jordanian isn’t afraid to target rival carriers, either.

When United Airlines came under fire for dragging a passenger off a flight earlier this year, Royal Jordanian was ready and waiting to administer the burn: “We would like to remind you that drags on our flights are strictly prohibited by passengers and crew.”

We are here to keep you #united Dragging is strictly forbidden 🚫

As one of the airlines affected by the electronics ban, Royal Jordanian ran a witty list of alternative activities for people trying to pass the time on a long flight.

The airline even held a laptop ban poetry competition among its passengers. The prize? Free flights to the US.

Of course, there was also the short-lived Muslim ban earlier this year, when Trump banned citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US.

When the ban was overturned, Royal Jordanian decided to strike while the iron is hot – publishing a list of US destinations with the word “ban” crossed out and replaced with “bon voyage”.

Plenty of other airlines have also taken swipes at Trump in the face of his travel bans. However, this prophetic post from the eve of the 2016 US election proves that Royal Jordanian was the true original.

“Just in case he wins… travel to the US while you’re still allowed to!”
