Ready for a good stretch? Here’s how to get involved with International Yoga Day.
There’s nothing quite like a good sun salutation when it comes to loosening up your limbs and clearing your mind.
But whether you’re a yoga newbie or an old-timer, there’s a reason why you’ll want to give the ancient practice a try on Tuesday.
With International Yoga Day taking place on June 20, venues and studios around Dubai are offering free sessions for eager stretchers.

This will be the third IYD, after the UN officially declared it a celebration back in 2014. Typically it falls on June 21, though the day will be marked a little early in the UAE due to a clash with the holy night of Lailat-ul-Qadr.
So, how do you take part? Well, the Indian Consulate in Dubai have teamed up with yoga schools, community organisations and local government authorities to put on six events across the city and the Northern Emirates.
In Dubai, activities will be held at three locations: Zabeel Park, Burj Park and the Burhani Complex in Al Nahda, and if you want to attend, you have to register online first
According to the IYD’s UAE website, events will start at Zabeel and Burj parks from 8.30pm, and at the Burhani Complex from 8.45pm.
Make sure you wear comfy clothing (yoga pants, tracksuits and the like), bring a hand towel if you like (we would, summer nights can be humid), and bring plenty of water so that you don’t get dehydrated.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium will hold events from 8.30pm onwards, as will Ras Al Khaimah’s American University and Umm Al Quwain’s Pearl Beach Hotel.
Other studios will also be holding their own celebrations, including a day of free classes at Dubai Marina’s 136.1 Yoga Studio on June 21, and free meditation sessions at Downtown Dubai’s Zoga Yoga Cafe on June 20.
So ready, set, limber…
