He may just be 22 and hail from London, UK but Sam Smith‘s vocals are so soulful and his lyrics so powerful that his style is reminiscent of Motown legends.
His debut album In the Lonely Hour (Deluxe Edition) – Sam Smith has already been a hit in the UK and launches today in the US.
While relatively new to the music scene, Smith, who credits the late Amy Winehouse as an influence, has already won a Brit Award thanks to the huge success of his singles Stay With Me and Money On My Mind.
The star is rapidly making a name for himself in the US where he has performed on Saturday Night Live and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
Smith admits the theme of his debut album is that of unrequited love. He said: “In the Lonely Hour is about someone that I fell in love with last year, who didn’t love me back. I think I’m over it now, but I was in a very dark place. I kept feeling lonely in the fact that I hadn’t felt love before.”
